Crystal Palace is reportedly keen on adding versatile Arsenal defender Calum Chambers to its ranks this summer and has lodged a bid of around £16 million for the 22-year-old, according to The Telegraph.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is considering sales for a number of players in his squad and is reportedly open to offloading Chambers, who was signed out of Southampton three years ago for £16 million.
Chambers enjoyed a standout season on loan with Middlesbrough last season but could not settle into a consistent role in Arsenal’s defensive pecking order, despite playing in multiple positions across the backline. He was not named to Arsenal’s preseason squad for a tour of Asia, either.
Chambers made 36 appearances for Arsenal in his first season but had been limited to only two Premier League starts in his second year before being loaned out to Boro last season.
